Fingal's Cave, Island of Staffa (1884/5)
Thomas Moran 1837-1926
The artist was born in Bolton, England to two handloom weavers. The family emigrated to Philadelphia where Thomas became an apprentice in a wood engraving firm. It was there he began to paint and draw, working as both a watercolourist and an illustrator.
